Biography

Dr. Özgür Gürbüz received her B.S. and M.S degrees in Electrical and Electronics Engineering at Middle East Technical University, in 1992 and 1995, respectively. She received her Ph.D. degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology in 2000. In her Ph.D. thesis, she worked on power control schemes for multimedia support in 3G W-CDMA wireless networks. From 2000 until 2002 she worked as a researcher and systems/algorithms engineer for Cisco Systems, in Wireless Access and Wireless Networking Business Units, where she participated in the design of ARQ protocols for fixed wireless systems, performance optimization and voice support in 802.11 wireless LANs. As of September 2002, Dr. Gurbuz joined the Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences at Sabanci University. Her research interests remain in the field of wireless communications and networks, in particular, media access control, scheduling and radio resource management, MIMO systems and smart antennas, cross layer design and wireless sensor network applications. She is a member of IEEE and IEEE Communications Society.
