Research Project funded by Cisco Systems, San Jose, CA, USA:

“Wireless LANs with Smart Antennas”

Dr. Ozgur Gurbuz has been awarded a research grant by Cisco Systems, San Jose, CA for her project entitled "Wireless LANs with Smart Antennas". Smart antennas is an active research topic in wireless communications, promising enhanced link quality, data rate and capacity. These enhancements quantified for the physical layer may not be efficiently utilized, unless the Media Access Control (MAC) layer is designed accordingly. The goal of this project is to investigate system and MAC layer issues of applying smart antennas in wireless networks, and to design an efficient MAC protocol/scheduler with smart antennas of future wireless networks.

Research Assistant /Researcher positions are available. MS students, Ph.D students or researchers who are interested in this project should contact Dr. Gurbuz directly from ogurbuz@sabanciuniv.edu, with a resume.

Research assistantship will cover tuition and a monthly scholarship. Research Assistants need to be a graduate student at Sabanci University, Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences (FENS).
