Welcome to Ince Research Group
The principal investigator of the Functional Surfaces Lab is Prof. Gozde Ozaydin Ince, a faculty member in the Materials Science and Nanoengineering Program at Sabancı University.
In the Functional Surfaces Lab, we use chemical vapor deposition techniques to fabricate ultra-thin films and polymer-based nanostructures that respond to temperature, pH, or light stimuli.
Our research focuses on the design and fabrication of functional thin-film surfaces for biointegrated electronics and biosensing, smart coatings, and materials for extreme environments and space applications. We also study vapor-deposited polymer thin films and electrospun nanofibrous architectures, emphasizing the fundamental condensed-matter physics of disordered soft materials to enable transient implantable devices and flexible electronics.
