Open Positions:

There are several openings for graduate and undergraduate students in various projects for this summer and the following several years. All positions require researchers who are in love with materials science and following cool things that have happened in the past and currently happening, who are hard-working, in good command of the English language, who are capable of defining the problem and are not afraid of attacking the origin of it, who are organized, who are patient, and who do not have any physical or mental obstacles to travel abroad. The specifics of the positions and the researchers needed are listed below in an itemized fashion.

i)     Project:         Hybrid Solar Cells Production and Testing

       Duration:       2-3 years

       Level:            MS Level Graduate student

Requirements:  The student will be responsible for conducting research on dye-sensitized hybrid solar cell construction and testing. The project is a joint study with Colleagues in Slovenia, and may be funded by the European project. Funding may be also in the form of TA-ship. A solid knowledge of electronic properties of materials is a big plus.

ii)    Project:        Solid Oxide Fuel Cells for Intermediate Temperatures

       Duration:      2 Years

       Level:           MS Level Graduate student

Requirements:    The student will conduct research on an ongoing TUBITAK funded project on LSGM electrolyte based SOFC together with a postdoc\PhD student. TUBITAK funding is available for a year at least.

Good ceramic processing background is a big plus.

iii)    Project:        From Polycrystals to Single Crystalline Ceramic

        Duration:     3 years or more

Level:           MS or PhD Level Graduate student

Requirements:    The student or students will conduct research on developing new routes on converting polycrystalline ceramics to single crystal wit defined geometry.  The student will be trained as a microscopist and wil be responsible also on the electron microscope(s) we have. The project involves determining the interaction of various doping elements and combinations of them with  functional structural and electronic ceramic matrices. The project has three groups involved in different countries and require travelling.

iv)    Project:        Sintering and Grain growth in piezoceramics

Duration:      Summer and 2 more years

        Level:           Sophomore undergraduate level

Requirements: Interest in Materials Science, hard working attitude, an inquisitive mind.
