Professor Menceloglu 's Research Group
Menceloglu group's research focuses on development of novel materials for proton exchange membrane fuel cells, biodegradable nanocomposite films, processing in supercritical carbondioxide, water repellent surfaces, smart materials and structures by electrospinning, UV curable nanocomposite coatings, flame retardant polymers, synthesis and characterization of fluorinated polymers, oligomers and surfactants.
Professor Yusuf. Z. Menceloglu did his undergraduate work on Chemistry at the Karadeniz Technical University, Turkey and graduate work (MSc and PhD) on Polymer Chemistry at the Istanbul Technical University, Turkey. He got his PhD in 1991 and for postdoctoral studies, he joined DeSimone research group at University of North Carolina, Chapell Hill, USA, where he performed his highly cited collaborative work on dispersion polymerizations in supercritcial carbon dioxide (Science, 265, 356 - 1994). In 1994, he moved to industry and worked in Gemsan A. S., Turkey at various managerial positions. In 2000 he joined the faculty of Sabanci University where he is currently a professor of Materials Science and Engineering.
